In the past, when we talked about poetry and painting, we always unconsciously looked into the distance. But after September 2016, if a friend suddenly tells you that his work has been exhibited all over the country and ended up in an art museum, you have to know that this is not a joke. The "Traveling Exhibition of Bad Poems and Paintings", jointly organized by "Not an Art Museum" and "Writing Bad Poems and Paintings", has received strong support from all parties in the process. Focusing on the concept of "facing the public, encountering nature", it is exhibited in different forms in public spaces free of charge. The works in this exhibition are all provided by the broadest masses of the people - it may be my friend Lao Li, my colleague Lao Liu, or even Lao Wang next door. Finally, these poems and paintings that embody the most simple wisdom will enter the art museum and enjoy the treatment of real artists.
From the bamboo chair in Chengdu to the high stool in Shanghai to the long bench in Beijing, every detail is full of sincerity for the work and its own strict requirements.
The original platform of "Writing bad poetry and Painting Bad painting" responded positively and selected the most "bad" works from nearly 1,000 original submissions. The authors span all ages and include various identities. It is a non-profit collective art activity of public welfare nature. In other words, the author may be a big artist with a deep and melancholy temperament, or it may be a child living in the neighborhood next to you who is still in junior high school. This exhibition only from the perspective of the works, intended to encourage everyone to create, discover the beauty of life.
Rotten is not a compromise to life, nor is it a label to advertise oneself as different, and it should not be barbaric realization as a gimmick of a business exhibition. Doing small things to make you happy is not as difficult as you think, and bad is your umbrella. Just as art itself comes from life, only a little higher than life is enough.
